I will bring real business experience to the Legislature. As the Manager of Business Development at a successful local company, I know how to create jobs and attract new businesses to the area.  I will focus on making Onondaga County more business friendly by first cutting taxes and by making county government more efficient.

Cutting Taxes:
High taxes have been driving families away from Central New York for too long. I know that citizens need tax relief now more than ever. By lowering property taxes, families will be able to stay in CNY, and more families and business will be able to afford to relocate here. By lowering sales tax, taxpayers will have more disposable income to spend which will help grow the local economy.

Creating Jobs:
I have played an important role in the recent success and growth of a company started in Central New York which now employees hundreds locally and almost a thousand people nationwide. Not only have I successfully recruited many talented individuals to the area, but I have also worked tirelessly to convince customers that Syracuse is the right place for them to do their business. I can bring this experience with me to the Legislature and continue to attract others to the area.

Making CNY More Business Friendly:
As a member of a successful technology company, I have seen first-hand that attracting those industries not typically associated with upstate New York is not only possible, but beneficial to the area. Onondaga County has a great number of strengths; comparatively low cost of living and real estate prices, a highly educated work force, top universities, great quality of life, and proximity to several major urban centers. With lower taxes and new incentives, it will be the perfect place for businesses to set up shop. We need to remove the obstacles that have kept them away.

Reforming and Reducing County Government:

I will reduce the cost and size of county government with three approaches:

- Consolidating Services: The successful police merger between the Town of Clay and Onondaga County is a good example of ways that government services can be sensibly consolidated. This merger resulted in reduced taxes without reducing services. I would recommend that all County departments get examined to see if other consolidations are possible.
- Privatizing Non-Essential Government Services: I will take a serious look at the County government to ensure that the County is only involved in providing services that are absolutely essential. Programs that cost the County money and could be better provided by an outside private company will be considered for sale or reduction.
- Putting the County on a Debt Diet: The County government must stop loaning itself money to close budget gaps. This only prolongs fiscal problems and costs more in the long run. I will sponsor legislation that requires Onondaga County to retire more debt each year than it creates in new loans. I believe that cutting spending is the only way to curb an increasing deficit.
