PERSONAL
John was born in Western New York and from a very early age was
taught the value of hard work and community service. His father
was a city Police Officer and his mother stayed at home to raise
four children. He graduated from high school near
the top of his class and studied Electrical Engineering at the
University of Buffalo where he graduated in 1996 with honors.
John moved to the Town of Clay immediately after graduation to
start a career as a systems engineer for Lockheed Martin.
In 1998, he married Heather Ross and the two of them are now proud
parents of three young girls. The oldest two attend Elmcrest
Elementary School.
EDUCATION
John was one of seventeen people selected for Lockheed Martin's Engineering Leadership Development Program in 1996. While working full-time, John continued his education and earned a masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University in 1999 and a Masters in Business Administration from Syracuse in 2005.
CIVIC SERVICE
After John and Heather bought a house in the Bayberry community in 1999, John volunteered to represent his neighborhood in the Bayberry Community Association. He participated in this role until 2006 when he interviewed for, and was appointed to an empty seat on the Town's Planning Board. As a recognition of his work on the planning board, he was later promoted to Deputy Chairman. This is a position that he still holds.
During his time on the Town of Clay Planning Board, John has worked hard to improve the quality of life for all of the Town's citizens by ensuring that residential, commercial, and industrial developers adhere to the town's laws, and are accountable to the residents that would like to have their voices heard about any changes being made around them.
Almost immediately after John moved to Clay, he became active in politics and in service to the town. Over the years, he has been an active part of several local, county, and state campaigns. In 2005, John joined Clay's Republican Committee where he has worked with like-minded volunteers to advance the Republican philosophy in local government.
Besides working with other campaigns, the BCA, and on the Town's Planning Board, John is also an active volunteer at Elmcrest Elementary School.
PROFESSIONAL
John worked as an engineer for Lockheed Martin until 2001 when he left for a similar engineering position at Syracuse Research Corporation (now known as SRC). As an engineer, John participated in the development of a number of sophisticated military sensing, and public safety communications systems. This gave him valuable insight into the needs of the public safety community, government acquisition, and multi-million dollar program management. John has been published in multiple trade journals, and has had his work patented.
John is currently the manager of Business Development for the largest technology center at SRC. In this role, he is responsible for attracting and developing new business for the company.
Between his education, his planning board experience, and his business development role at SRC, he has a very rare and very useful combination of skills that will allow him to understand and solve the problems facing the County's future.
